Jeremy Zimmer

Jeremy is also a veteran that has had trouble with depression and PTSD. He was active duty during 9/11 and as we went into Afghanistan. He has firsthand knowledge of the problems within the veteran community and its medical system. Jeremy is a Caterpillar generator diesel mechanic and previously worked at a stainless steel fabrication shop in Portland, Oregon. He earned a degree in collision repair and spent the majority of his time after the military restoring classic cars. He spent a few years working at a saw mill after the economy slowed down and nobody was interested in restoring their vehicles. He has a wife (Bitsy) and two kids.
After Jeremy and Bitsy came up with the idea for starting a program , they struggled for several months to think of a name. After a string of veteran suicides and hearing about the staggering numbers of veterans that have died before getting the care that they deserve, Jeremy came up with the name Surviving Home - Because surviving combat is only half the battle. He has a deep conviction that it is not only about surviving home but about enjoying home with the hope of a better tomorrow. It has become very clear that there isn't adequate help at the VA and Instead of waiting for a new expensive VA program, Jeremy and Bitsy has decided to start something outside of the VA to assist veterans as quickly as possible.
